Stripping What is it?
“Stripping” if you don’t know what it is you need to read this article and learn quickly. The stripping I’m talking about is not the sensual one. This one is obscene, dangerous, and illegal. This stripping is where some low-life strips the information from a listing. Then re-list the property as their own. The stripper claims to be a broker, agent, or owner. They list the property for less than the original, offering unbelievable deals.
Stripping: Happening in Real-Time
This just happened to one of my listings. Fortunately, a prospective tenant saw the ad and contacted me. I immediately contacted the web host and the owner. The owner and I are taking steps to protect his property.
A warning to all people looking for rentals. Beware of deals like this that seem too good. As the saying goes, “If it looks too good to be true it probably is.”
What this person expected to get from stripping my ad is beyond me. He can’t show the apartment. And his phone number if for someone in Alabama.
The Answer
Here is the answer straight from the lowlife himself. He sent it to me after I hit the “Contact Me” button. I will keep you up to date on what happens next.
In the meantime, I am placing alerts on my social media pages. This person will not benefit from this scam.

Hi,
Thanks for the interest regarding my house for rent, First i must say that am a very busy man, and i don’t stay on internet much, my house is still available for rent, but all i want is someone who i can put my Trust on and a God-fearing person, i rented my house to Mr Cameron’s Family, i must say am really dissappionted in them, they claim to be very neat and honest, and also they could not afford to pay the rent for 4 month, which is very bad, they lied to me filling out the rental application form, telling me that they were capable of paying the rent, they also damage some of my properties, which has been fixed now.I am looking for a responsible & clean tenant that will be able to take good care of my house because i’m a Civil Engineer and I do travel a lot, Presently I am in (York Alabama), for on a contract and I don’t know when I will return back to the house that’s why am looking for a good tenant who will live in the property and take care of it.The contract will last for atleast nineteen months or more but The house is available for long term and short term lease is also accepted. The month rent is $1000 and security deposit is $600 also. Here is my cell phone number ((657) 214-0628 ) for more details. This 3BR /1B is still available for rent.

Let’s Analyse His Response: Red flags in his reply.
- Like all scams, there are punctuation and grammatical errors.
- No ad carries a rental application.
- The response list items that are not in the ad he stripped. He threw in everything including the kitchen sink.
- It is against the Federal Fair Housing Act to ask about children and marital status in real estate transactions.
- The deal is too good to be true. 3 bedroom rental in East New York goes for more than 1800.00.
The package he will send you after you pay the rental amount
- A bunch of keys. Really a bunch of keys. No one does this.
- Lease agreement. He will sign this without meeting you.
- Rent receipts and damage deposit receipts. We do not rent this way in the five boroughs. You get a receipt for the 1st month’s rent and security. No damage deposit receipts. No one calls it that here.
Anyone that would agree to this sight unseen is chum in the water for this shark.
I will not be ending with my usual sign-off. Except to say
Caveat Emptor: Let the Buyer Beware.
