This is the question given to me by my friend Paula. Like so many people she had received videos and other items telling her that 5G caused Covid-19. Then came the somewhat famous video of a person taking readings of a “5G tower.” The producer of the video states that the worker was wearing a hazmat suit. After receiving this video Paula decided to seek fact versus fiction. So, let’s dive right in.
5G Towers And Covid-19
5G towers do not cause Covid-19 or more correctly, SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19. If you were under the impression that it did well, now you know. So, you can stop reading now, and move on to the other exciting things in your life. Or you can read on, and learn more about 5G. Then blind your friends with your brilliance about the new technology. Yeah, let’s do that.

Part 1: Misinformation
The 5G Tower Video Scare
There is a video making the rounds that I call the “5G Tower and Hazmat Suit” video. In the video, a person is filming a “5G” cell tower. He pulls out an RF detector to show how much “radiation” the tower is emitting. During the video, he states that the worker that installed the tower was wearing a “hazmat suit”. We don’t get a clear image of the tower.
After showing the readings on the RF detector he states, “This s**t will kill you. It will shut your respiratory system down.”
Will it? Let’s see.
Analysis
There are several problems with this video. First, we do not see the person installing the tower. So we have to take his word for it that the person was wearing a hazmat suit.
Let’s say this did happen. People confuse someone in a Tyvek coverall with a hood as a hazmat suit. They are not the same. Workers use Tyvek coveralls to remove asbestos and other contaminants. They offer no protection against ionizing radiation. And you can buy Tyvek coveralls just about anywhere. Working Hazmat suits are expensive and not sold at Home Depot like Tyvek coveralls.
Why The Tyvek Coveralls?
The fact that Covid-19 was spreading across the country at the time of the video may be the answer. The worker protecting himself from the virus rather than radiation is more likely. Also, installations are done on de-energized circuits, not live ones. So there’s no possibility of radiation exposure; because there is none.
Types of Hazmat Suits
Hazmat suits come in various versions. Hazmat suits that deal with viruses like you see in the movies are useless against radiation.
Tyvek coveralls are protective coveralls with or without a hood. Add a full-face respirator, and it may look like a hazmat suit, but it is not. That said we now have to address the difference between Hazmat Suits
Safety & Health Practitioner
https://www.shponline.co.uk/procurement-guides/hazmat-suits-your-complete-buyers-guide/
I searched online for various hazmat suits. I came upon SHP, the Safety And Health Practitioners website. They have a detailed description of Hazmat suits and what each one does. Click here to read their information on the different types of suits.
To save you some reading, I excerpted the following. It refers to the Tyvek type of coverall I talked about.
Excerpt: Level D- Does not constitute a ‘Hazmat suit’, requiring only specific work clothing and eye (splash) protection. Normal work uniform with no respiratory protection. Level D offers the lowest level of protection, and it is typically worn when there is no danger to workers from chemical exposure. It includes a pair of coveralls and chemical-resistant footwear with steel toe shoes and midsole.
Note: None of these suits protects against radiation. To see a Hazmat Suit made to withstand radiation click on the link to Respirex. This company makes suits used in cases of nuclear spills. Think Chernobyl.

The RF Meter
Next, there is an RF detector. To get an accurate reading you need to make sure that there is nothing else radiating radiofrequency waves. Like your cellphone. Or some other device that you may be nearby. The person in the video does not state what wavelength the detector was picking up. But we see that it is set for RF.
Note: Radio Frequency waves can be harmful but only under certain conditions.
While it is true that his detector picked up something. There is no proof that it was from a 5G tower. RF meters read all RF signals unless set to read 5G only. To read the EMF from a 5G source you need an RF detector that can read the 5G bandwidth in use.
More On EMF
That said, you need to know that Radio frequency waves exist just about everywhere. More precisely, EMF exists, which is a type of radiofrequency. I placed a link to a website that deals with this later in this article.
Suffice it to say that anything electrical emits EMF waves. Notice the cars in the video? If any of them had their motor running you would get a reading. To isolate for 5G, you need a meter that detects the 5G wavelengths. Again the link to the website at the end of this article has more information about EMF. There you will find information on RF detectors and which ones work best for 5G.
Can You Spot The 5G Tower vs. The 4G Tower?
Finally, the tower was a 4G tower. 5G tower arrays, unlike 4G towers, are clustered together. They are usually within 500 feet of each other. In the video, we see one tower. And the visual on that tower is poor.
To see what a 5G tower or transmitter looks like search Google. Keywords: Image of 4G cell tower or transmitter. Image of 5G cell tower or transmitter.

Are Hazmat Suits Needed to Install 5G Cellphone Towers?
https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/hazmat-suits-5g-equipment/
For example, the following is on the video in question. Here is the link to the article. No time to read it, no problem. This excerpt wraps the whole thing up nicely.
Excerpt: Even if the cell tower pictured above emitted ionizing radiation for some reason, the worker’s suit would not protect against it. The worker appears to be wearing a Tyvek suit, which is designed to “protect against particulates and other contaminants.” Ionizing radiation is neither a particle nor a contaminant, and in point of fact, there is no hazmat suit capable of blocking ionizing radiation.
The Myths
The following is a list of myths stated in various articles. Links to those articles are supplied so you can read them for yourself.
Conspiracy Theories List
Excerpt: Initial theories about the relationship between the coronavirus and 5G have now ballooned into all sorts of wild speculation. Some suggest that 5G networks cause radiation, which, in turn, triggers the virus. Others float that reports of the novel coronavirus were actually a cover-up for the installation of 5G towers. A few accounts push the idea that 5G and COVID-19 are part of a broader effort to “depopulate” Earth. Some think it might be connected to the American agriculture titan Monsanto.
Excerpt: Oh, 5-jeez, how could telecom possibly be related to the spread of a respiratory virus? Well, one variation of the theory is that there is actually no COVID-19 coronavirus. In other words, those pictures of the virus that you see on the news, that testing that you hear famous people are getting, and that severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV2) that doctors and scientists seem to be battling are all part of some elaborate hoax. The virus is supposedly like love at first sight. It doesn’t really exist. Instead, this theory claims that the radiation from 5G is what’s actually causing COVID-19 symptoms.
Another variation of the conspiracy theory asserts that radiation from 5G can weaken your immune system to the point that you are more easily infected by the COVID-19 coronavirus. So the claim is that the advent of 5G is what has allowed this virus to spread as it has.
How else are folks trying to give currency to these 5G-COVID-19 conspiracy theories? What about pointing to currency? The video accompanying the following tweet claims that the new Bank of England £20 note happens to include pictures of a coronavirus and a 5G tower: Find Link To Video
Influencers and Russia are pushing conspiracy theories that link the coronavirus to the new, super-fast wireless technology. They’re absolutely wrong.
One that’s gained steam online is that new 5G networks caused the disease. That’s completely wrong. Radio waves can’t create a virus, which is what causes COVID-19.
The conspiracy theory has spread on social media. Keri Hilson, an American singer with 4.2 million followers on Twitter, sent several tweets last month that attempted to link the coronavirus to 5G. She wrote: “People have been trying to warn us about 5G for YEARS. Petitions, organizations, studies…what we’re going thru is the affects [sic] of radiation. 5G launched in CHINA. Nov 1, 2019. People dropped dead.”
In March, a Facebook user named Ben Mackie falsely linked 5G to the coronavirus, saying in part that it’s not actually a virus. “They are trying to get u scared of a fake ass virus when it the 5G towers being built around the world,” he said. He also claimed that Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates invented the technology and that it’s an effort to depopulate the world. And Mackie said that vaccines being developed for the coronavirus are actually chips that will be implanted in people.
(Editors’ note: We are not linking to these posts because they contain falsehoods.) Those claims were debunked by UK fact checker FullFact, and other experts have chimed in.
Russian Misinformation

Excerpt: This isn’t the first time that 5G has been a target of conspiracy theories. Russia, which has sown misinformation and influenced the 2016 US presidential election, has included 5G as one of its target areas. Broadcaster RT America, which is funded by the Russian government, a year ago published a report called “5G Wireless: A Dangerous ‘Experiment on Humanity'” that sought to create fear about the technology. The New York Times at the time said it was an effort by Russia to slow the US push for 5G
A conspiracy theory claiming 5G can spread the coronavirus is making the rounds on social media. The myth supposedly gained traction when a Belgian doctor linked the “dangers” of 5G technology to the virus during an interview in January.
Stop5G Australia members have claimed the Ruby Princess cruise liner’s link to 600 reported infections and 11 deaths is because cruises are “radiation saturated”. That’s wrong. While cruise passengers can access roaming wifi services on board, these are not 5G services. Maritime cruises have yet to implement 5G technology.

“Societies in many European countries are protesting against the mandatory use of vaccines, particularly vaccines against COVID-19, because they view them as an opportunity for the global system of anti-Christs to introduce microchips into the human body and control people with the help of 5G technology,” the statement said.
“A lot of people are saying there is no coronavirus and there is no danger, but that it is all organized by some global forces that are interested in forcing people…onto reservations and then irradiate them from 5G antennae so that they would lose consciousness and then be implanted with microchips,” Bitarov was quoted by TASS as saying. “There are a lot of people who think like that.”
Cancer, Mental Illness and Dead Wildlife
Almost immediately, however, anti-5G groups began forming on social media. People posted fake photographs of radiation-warning signs supposedly attached to 5G antennae, for instance. Unsubstantiated and debunked claims ran wild that the technology caused cancer or mental illness, that it killed trees and wildlife, and so on.

Really, we don’t need to go through all this for mind control. There are drugs that already do this. But if your government wanted to get microchips the size of a grain of rice in you there are other ways. For instance, they could put it in the rice, or pasta, or meat. You get the idea. Injections are not the only way to invade our bodies. But let’s keep that to ourselves, we don’t want to tip off the government.?

Yeah, Bill Gates has nothing better to do than invent technology to depopulate the world. This guy lives on people buying his technology. So why would he work against himself and decimate his market base? If anything he would increase the population and make them all want his technology. Yeah, that’s the ticket.
Part 3: Why A 5G Tower Did Not Cause Covid-19
Non-Ionizing Radiation Explained. (The Short Version)
By STANLEY SHANAPINDA, THE CONVERSATION 8 APRIL 2020

Excerpt: The difference between 5G and previous generations of mobile services (4G, 3G) is that the latter uses lower radio frequencies (in the 6 gigahertz range), whereas 5G [also] uses frequencies in the 30–300 gigahertz range.
In the 30-300 gigahertz range, there’s not enough energy to break chemical bonds or remove electrons when in contact with human tissue. Thus, this range is referred to as “non-ionising” electromagnetic radiation.
Correction: This article was amended to make clear that, while millimeter waves lie within the frequency range of 30–300 GHz, 5G technology is also rolled out at lower frequencies than this.
X-rays can destroy tissue. That is why there is a limit to the number of X-ray tests you can take in a given timeframe. Too much exposure is dangerous. Whether through repeated exposure or one long burst of X-rays can hurt you. 5G is a non-ionizing wavelength. Meaning it will not destroy tissue as an X-ray can. And the virus cannot travel on it. Here’s why.
A 5G tower cannot cause a virus or transmit a virus because radio waves can’t do that. Sure ionizing radiation can destroy tissue but it does not create. You might even develop cancer because of the radiation. But you will not create a virus.
How The New Technology Works
The following is taken from No, 5G Radiation Doesn’t Spread The Coronavirus. Here’s How We Know.
The 5G Breakdown
- In the 30-300 gigahertz range, there’s not enough energy to break chemical bonds or remove electrons when in contact with human tissue. Thus, this range is referred to as “non-ionising” electromagnetic radiation.
- 5G radiates non-ionising electromagnetic radiation.
- Your 5G mobile phone radiates non-ionising radiation which is below recommended safety levels.
- 5G radiation can’t penetrate the skin, or allow a virus to penetrate the skin.
- The virus is incapable of hijacking 5G radio signals. Therefore, it cannot be carried by a 5G signal.
- 5G radio waves are short waves. Because these waves are short, 5G cell towers need to be relatively close together – about 250 metres apart. 250 meters = 820 feet
- For 5G to cover a larger geographic area, more base stations are needed in comparison to 4G.
Is There A 5G Tower In Your Area
There are several types of towers in existence. You can search online to see if any towers are in your area and their status. The following list the status of towers you will find in your search.
- Pending Towers: These exist on paper and are in the planning stage.
- Inactive towers: Towers that you can see but are not active.
- Active Towers: Towers that are in use now.
Using The OOKLA 5G MAP™
Go to Speedtest.net. Click on OOKL 5G map and it will open a window showing 5G networks.
I used this map to check for active towers in my area. One map shows there are no active towers in my area. Another showing active towers used by my carrier shows my area ringed by towers but not in the area. I suspect this will change in time.
Click here to see if there are towers in your area. Before you use this map, read the section on how to use the map. This is important in your search for active 5G towers. There is also a section on locating towers your cellphone provider may have.

Part 4: Other Articles You May Find Interesting
EMF Academy
During my research, I came across EMF Academy. This site deals with EMF radiation. Yes, a 5G tower does emit EMF. In fact, anything electrical emits some type of EMF. If you are concerned about exposure to EMF, check out this site.
5G Is Not The Same As 5Ghz
While you are at EMF Academy read the article on Is 5 Ghz WiFi Dangerous? – Your Questions Answered https://emfacademy.com/5-ghz-wifi-dangerous/
Why? Because there is a difference between 5G and 5Ghz. Bet you didn’t know that. 5G refers to 5th Generation. Example: The first of something is called the 1st Generation or 1G for short.
Here’s Where It Gets Confusing
When you look at your cellphone you may see a “5G” notification. This is misleading. 5G on your cellphone refers to 5Ghz, not the 5G network. Read Is 5 Ghz WiFi Dangerous? – Your Questions to get a better understanding.
Note: Articles on this website are in-depth. Some are quite technical. The site also promotes products to reduce EMF. If you have a concern about EMF radiation this site is for you.
Reminder, this article is about 5G tower emissions and COVID-19, not 5G and EMF. As someone exposed to high levels of EMF in my previous work, I have to say I’m not concerned. Nor have I had any ill effects from exposure.
That said, I include it here because it does have valuable information on how 5G works. There are articles I completely disagree with but that’s okay. I leave it to you to pursue what you find relevant.
Again, EMF radiation is a thing. It comes from every electrical device. EMF is not a virus. It cannot carry a virus. And it does not create a virus.

5G Cell Towers – Are They Safe & Who Decides Where They Go?
https://www.celltowerleaseexperts.com/cell-tower-lease-news/5g-cell-towers-are-they-safe-who-decides-where-they-go/
Looking for a quick read on 5G, cell towers, and pros and cons. Read this article. It’s not as tech-filled as some of the others.
Excerpt: 5G cell towers are telecommunications sites that could boost wireless signals by ten times the current speed of 4G. 5G operates in a high-frequency band of the wireless spectrum. Because high-frequency waves have a harder time traveling over distance & through objects, the 5G network will be built on small cell site technology with antennas as close as 500 feet apart. Cell tower leases are being established and appended as a result of this rollout.
5G: What It Means For Cell Tower Landlords
https://www.celltowerleaseexperts.com/cell-tower-lease-news/5g-means-cell-tower-landlords/
Are you a landlord with a cell tower on your property? Then this is for you.
This site addresses the 5G network as it pertains to its uses and growth. The site has articles that touch on tower leases as well as their impact on cities. If you are looking for a short explanation of 5G and how to profit from it, this site is for you.
Excerpt: Existing cell tower and rooftop sites may see a lot of equipment modification activity, as it will be out with the old and in with the new. A cell tower landlord should not only know its rights under its current cell tower lease agreement but also understand the opportunities it may have to negotiate a better overall lease as a result of the change in equipment.
Final Word
5G does not cause Covid-19. SARS-CoV-2 does. SARS-CoV-2 is a biological living thing. 5G is not. 5G cannot transmit Covid-19.
Oh, one last item. Click here to read a true life story concerning the misconception about Tyvek coveralls.
