Voting choices made simple. There is a simple formula for picking whom to vote for this year. You’re either for moving America forward or backward. Consider the following shortlist. You either believe:
- Voting rights for all or just for the few.
- A woman controls her body or the state does.
- Interracial marriage or not.
- The marriage of two human beings or just a man and woman.
- Viruses that kill exist or they do not.
It is this simple. The 2022 and 2024 elections are yes or no choices. You’re for saving the planet or you believe there is no threat. There are no neutral options. It’s time to decide.
Voting Choices Made Simple In Our Time
To make things easier I made this list for myself. You may choose to do the same.
The Choosing List
I know a sophisticated name right? The Choosing List. Oh well.
- Anyone endorsed by Trump does not get your vote
- If you need to know why read Why You Should Vote For Trump and More Reasons To Vote For Trump
- Any politician who supports Trump’s claim that the election was stolen, does not get your vote.
- McConnell Republicans do not get your vote.
- This group of Republicans not only back Trump, but has blocked numerous bills and laws that would benefit you.
- They are for big business, a nationwide ban on abortion, high prescription costs, restricting voting rights, and pretty much anything that helps the majority of Americans live comfortably.
- QAnon and other extremists. Unless you believe in these extreme and unproven theories, don’t vote for anyone who does.
Beware The Latest Trump Lie
So, thanks to the crybaby president aka #45 I have to amend one of my recommendations.
Do not vote for a candidate that Trump truly endorses as opposed to someone that is sarcastically endorsed by #45.
In the New York primary, #45 endorsed Daniel Goldman. This is the person that prosecuted Trump in his impeachment.
Now, do you think that Trump has respect or admiration for anyone that is not him? No, he does not, especially a Democratic candidate.
So use common sense and ignore the insincere endorsement of the former president for a candidate you are considering.
Candidates Still Standing
In the remaining candidates, you must determine which ones are working towards the goals you support. Be wary of candidates who say they will work on what you want.
An example would be a candidate that says they will work to secure abortion rights but has not done so in the past. As opposed to a candidate that is already working for abortion rights.
One candidate has proven their commitment, the other has not.
In short, instead of following polls or ads. Do your research. Candidates running for re-election have a record you can look up. New candidates also have a record you can check. It takes a little more digging, but you can find it.
The record may be lacking in usable knowledge. In that case, you have to ask yourself, is this candidate the better of two evils?
The No Win Scenario
I faced this in a mayoral election in which neither candidate was a good choice. But one person was better than the other and there was no other viable choice.
Sure there were other lesser-known candidates. But I had long ago learned that voting for a third-party candidate that cannot possibly win is a bad move.
I have seen the protest vote in action since the 70s and it has always resulted in the same bad result. We get an elected official that is terrible. If you don’t vote against someone then you have voted for them. Whether you cast a ballot or not.
